Brooklyn OT provides pediatric occupational therapy and parent education through a convenient in-home and in-school model for families in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Services are offered in the settings where children spend their time, including home, school, after-school programs, camps, and daycare, with teletherapy and video-based parent education available when needed. The practice works with toddlers, children, and teens, and serves clients from about age 2 through young adulthood. Care commonly focuses on foundational skills that support participation at home, school, and in the community, including self-regulation, executive functioning, sensory processing, motor development, and self-care.
The practice is owned and founded by Rachel Frizzell-Henige, MS, OTR/L. She has training in self-regulation and sensory processing, executive function and attention, and motor learning, and she holds degrees in Child Development and Occupational Therapy from Tufts University. Brooklyn OT also includes Michelle Conley, MS, OTR/L, a pediatric occupational therapist with experience across school, home, sensory clinic, and aquatic settings. Brooklyn OT offers direct treatment sessions, standardized and observational evaluations, in-school observations with recommendations for classroom supports, consultations, and parent education. Therapy typically begins with collaborative goal setting and is designed to build meaningful skills and independence while incorporating play, rapport, and a child’s interests. Evaluations are used to clarify strengths and needs across areas such as school readiness, executive function, gross and fine motor skills, and self-regulation and sensory processing, and may support out-of-network insurance reimbursement through appropriate documentation. Brooklyn OT commonly supports children with ADHD, autism, dyspraxia/developmental coordination differences, learning disabilities, Down syndrome, and related challenges that affect daily functioning.
